Today was a wonderful day. We began our day with a breakfast consisting of eggs of every kind (ahhh delicious!) and juice. Like yesterday, we split up into three groups, two groups went back to St. Georges while the others stayed at the Mary Rice Centre.
It seems as though Valentine's day here will be no issue for us, as every single girl had their name written in love hearts in colourful chalk all across the playground by the students in St. George's.
We also met another visiting school of five boys from Midleton CBS which started with an awkward (and a little flirtatious) "How are TINGSSSS" but ended swiftly with the ring of the school bell for class.
Our calves are definitely burning this evening after one too many games of tag and a rather intense game of hokey pokey with the children of St. Georges.
The few girls that stayed in Mary Rice were kept busy with various activities such as colouring and yoga. The girls went back to class in style in a conga line (chucka-chucka-choo-choo train~Zoe S) and the children here thoroughly enjoyed all the play dough and bubbles that were kindly donated.
After a long day of teaching, we hopped on to the metro to go to exchange our money to Rupees and go to the BIG bazaar (Supermarket). The metro ten second rule door opening times got the better of us when a few of the girls nearly ended on the other side of Kolkata but managed to hop off just in time!
We exchanged money and then felt very at home in the supermarket after finding lots of familiar foods such as Dairy Milk chocolate and Koka noodles.
We are looking forward to our visit to the HOPE Foundation and some of their projects tomorrow and are equally excited for the days that follow.
Signing off.
XOXO Killiney girls.

ReplyDeleteNot so easy teaching ......is it!! Your students are looking very attentive so you must be doing something right. A future career for some of you perhaps? All is well in HCK and we are all looking forward to the mid-term break. Blessings in abundance to you all x
